Chard is able to grow in poor soils with a low need for water and light. The same family as beet and spinach, ‘Swiss ‘chard is a native of the Mediterranean. There are many different types with a variety of colourful stalks and veins.
Contains an abundance of vitamins and minerals in the leaves and stalks. These include vitamins A, C, E, K, plus calcium, copper, magnesium, zinc, sodium, phosphorus, manganese, iron and potassium.
